What they say about it
Plastic ingredient D(-) lactic acid can be expensive and costly to produce, but a new process, using renewable, cellulosic feedstock, could reduce the chemical’s cost and environmental footprint.

Country of Origin

How they say it works
While separating D(-) lactic acid and L(+) lactic acid has traditionally required an expensive chemical process, Myriant says its technology “permits the production of D(-) lactic acid alone or L(+) lactic acid alone in one step through biosynthesis—reducing the cost and complexity of the purification process,” which allows manufacturers to enhance the performance of polylactic acid at a reasonable cost.
