Lux has partnered with Solazyme to produce the next generation of soaps with oil produced entirely from algal oil. This process is more sustainable than previous techniques and results in a greater level of product purity.

Replacing the original palm oil that went into older versions of the soap, Unilever will instead use oil created through custom-engineered algae. The rest of the production process remains unchanged but the new source should result in a purer final substance.
